Sunflowers I
The beautiful sunflowers that grow along White Oak Bayou in Houston were the inspiration for these paintings. Once a year the rather cold concrete bayous explode with color from the wild sunflowers along the banks, The symbolic sunflower meaning deals with beauty, delight, hope, and joy. They have become a symbol of hope for a better future. The sunflower has also become a symbol of peace and a world free of nuclear weapons. With these thoughts in mind, I paint a series of sunflowers.
